Compensation may be made based on a certain value for each visit (Pay-Per-Click),

This is a system of revenue sharing between one site (the affiliate merchant) which features an ad

or content designed to drive traffic to another site (the advertiser).

The affiliate will receive a fee based on the amount of the traffic generated.

What is an Affiliate Network:

A clearing house where affiliates and advertisers get to size each other up and generate and benefit from traffic?

• Affiliates look for offers on a Network.

• Advertisers place creative on a network for Affiliates to review.

• The network tracks the links, clicks, and conversion ratios of offers.

• Affiliates generate traffic to a Network that is then directed to an advertiser.

• If the affiliate generates a sale, then the Network knows about it and the affiliate is notified.

• The network makes a small commission for the exact sales that are generated.

3 Main Important Points:

1) Industry - Go for the BOOMING industry which leads to high demands that you could generate income more easily.

2) Company - Identify a great company that you could align with.

3) Products - How do you find great products to promote as an independent affiliate?

Compare the commission rates and payment schedules

Obvious but important!

Don’t just default to the high-commission product in the category.

Pick the one you think is the best for you.

Find out the threshold for payment, payment frequency, payment method,

and other factors so you know how and when you will be paid.

Also, please familiarize yourself with their chargeback policy which will be detailed in their affiliate terms.

Is there an affiliate manager who can help you or is the program managed by an affiliate network?

1) Make sure the network is using best practices

2) Lack of knowledge breeds failure

Read the affiliate terms

Rules and guidelines of the program – especially related to the type of advertising allowed,

CAN-SPAM compliance, and keyword bidding limitations.

The lifespan of your affiliate cookie which tracks your sale

1) Cookies Determine who gets referral credit

2) Don’t rely on cookies as the only way to track Charge-back procedures for buyer returns

Do they have good affiliate tools and training?

- Is the affiliate dashboard easy to navigate?

– Do they track your clicks and trends for you?

– Do you get email notifications of sales? Not all of them do including

– Do they have quality banners and linking tools?

– Do they have tutorials (preferably video) to help you get started?

Start with the products and services

– Do you know exactly what you’re selling?

– Is it a good product or service?

– A good product will sell itself

– Have you personally used it? If not, would you buy it yourself?

– Does it have a good call-to-action sales letter and professional site?

– Does it have a money-back guarantee? –

Do they have easily accessible customer service?

– Companies should stand behind their product

– Is the checkout procedure smooth and fluid?

– Do they have attractive creative?

– Is the Pay-out easy to understand?

– Can you envision the ability to earn money from traffic you drive to the site?

Do they have multiple streams of income that you could leverage?

Why do you need multiple streams of income is because if there is something bad happens
